The Restless Native

Recently, while on my ‘ReachAroundTheWorld’ journey I visited a few Occupy sites. I encountered them in various stages from victorious to evicted, but the persistent nature of what I experienced brought home the obvious fact that this movement is not about places, but people. 

The spaces thus occupied have been both tactical and arbitrary, sending out a message that all is already ours to occupy. 

We have reclaimed the word ‘Occupy’, from one that connotes imperialism, to one that represents everyday people on their own planet.

This in itself is a victory and a battle cry all in one.
